Continuing on from my short-range wireless redstone tutorial, I decided to do a tutorial on long-range wireless redstone transmission. This circuit is capable of sending a wireless redstone signal over VERY large distances (theoretically almost 288 blocks). In this tutorial I show you how to create wireless transmitter and receiver circuits capable of sending redstone signals on up to 8 different frequencies, since this is the easiest way to send the signals and I doubt people will have a need for more than 8 frequencies. Please note that I am aware that I was not the first to discover this. This is something I've been messing around with a little since the 1.2 update and which I thought may be interesting/useful. This is a way of sending a redstone signal through the air/water. However, due to the fact that it makes use of dispensers and the new fire charges, the system becomes less and less reliable the greater the distance between the dispenser and the receiving piston. With a synapse (gap) of: - two or fewer blocks, the signal is essentially 100% reliable. - less than or equal to five blocks, the signal is approximately 80% reliable - more than or equal to six blocks, the signal becomes too unreliable The signal can be sent through water but this will slow down the fire charge, giving the randomness of the dispenser more time to throw the charge further off course. Therefore water almost halves the reliability of the signal - but it still works. This is the only practical use I've come up with for the new fire charges, thus far.
