LONDON, United Kingdom, 13 July 2009 — Starting today, MTV audiences around the world will see a new music video that aims to raise awareness about sex trafficking. Featuring the rock band The Killers, the video is an exclusive collaboration between UNICEF, MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) and the US Agency for International Development. The track, Goodnight, Travel Well, is from the album Day & Age. The video is the second in a series of music video collaborations that highlight the danger and impact of human trafficking. The series launched last year with an award-winning film - produced by MTV EXIT that featured the Radiohead single All I Need. "We are deeply shocked and appalled that women and children are forced into such exploitative situations, said a spokesperson for The Killers. We hope that through MTV's efforts, and this powerful video, millions of people across the world learn about this tragic form of modern-day slavery." The video for Goodnight, Travel Well has the potential to reach more than 500 million households in 168 countries. There is almost no country in the world now that isnt affected by human trafficking in some way, said UNICEF Chief of Child Protection Susan Bissell. The statistics are staggering. More than 1.2 million children are being trafficked each year and nearly 80 per cent of all trafficking is for sexual exploitation, and the most at risk are girls. We see this music video as a powerful way to reach out and raise awareness ... Теги: UNICEF The Killers CRC Convention on rights of Child Trafficing

What if someone bottled the water that millions in developing countries drink every day and offered it on the streets of New York? For just a buck, during World Water Week (March 22-29), New Yorkers in the Union Square Park area were able to enjoy the benefits of DIRTY WATER. It was available in a wide variety of choices like MALARIA, CHOLERA or even TYPHOID DIRTY WATER -- and currently has 900 million consumers. Over 4200 children die of water related diseases every day and millions of people around the world lack access to clean water resources. New Yorkers were startled to find YELLOW FEVER or HEPATITIS DIRTY WATER bottles. They looked at the vending machine in disgust. Though no one drank Dirty Water, many did donate to the cause. This idea of "selling" dirty water was inspired by UNICEF's promise that every dollar donated would provide safe drinking water to 40 children for a day. This eye-opening DIRTY WATER initiative from Casanova Pendrill New York, goes beyond collecting funds for UNICEF in a unique active street effort. The goal was to shock the media and the public with this alarming issue. The campaign is currently active since people can continue donating online at tapproject.org or via text message. Text TAP or AGUA to UNICEF (864233) to make a $5 donation. This effort is part of a much bigger pro-bono Spanish/English campaign that Casanova Pendrill executed within UNICEF´s Tapproject.org. This is first time the campaign expands to Multicultural. Casanova has ... www.unicef.org NEW YORK, USA, 9 July 2010 -- In a special video message marking the six-month anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Yuna Kim thanks donors who have supported a cause she herself holds dear: UNICEF's relief efforts for Haitian children and families. Ms. Kim is deeply committed to improving the lives of children. After the earthquake struck in Haiti, she made a generous donation to UNICEF's emergency operations for children there. In her video message, Ms. Kim addresses fellow donors directly. "When the earthquake in Haiti shook the nation to the core, like you, I decided to help. And together, we did help by providing children with food, protection, clean water, medicine and school books," she says. "What has already been achieved in Haiti brings hope. But rebuilding homes, schools and lives will take time, and it needs our continued support. Let us not forget the people of Haiti -- or the millions of children around the world who need our help the most." Here's our Google+ Hangout with actress and UNICEF supporter Keeley Hawes, recorded on 14 May 2012. Keeley travelled to Djibouti in East Africa in March 2012, to find out about UNICEF's work with malnourished children. She also shot a film that will be shown as part of Soccer Aid on ITV1 on 27 May. Watch an interview with Keeley in Djibouti here: youtu.be Quick technical note: This was our first G+ Hangout -- we're still learning! -- so bear with us through any (ahem) difficulties and sound interruptions. (Also: thanks Keeley!) Теги: #hangoutsonair google+ keeley hawes soccer aid djibouti east africa horn of africa
