Sometimes everything you try just does nothing, in fact sometimes the child goes too far past being tired and simply wants to fight you in their tiredness, on comes the headache. I know from my own experience that if I can just distract a child long enough, in a way that gains their attention, but not in anything that can serve to wake them/wind them up any more, then part of "the battle" has been won Relaxing music is an ideal medium, the music box sound captivates childrens imagination, there is something magical about it. The Inner Smile - One of the greatest gifts we have, something that cannot be taken away from us...without our permission. Things often go wrong, bad things happen, people, experiences, events come along and challenge us, but none of these things can take away our inner smile. We have only to decide to keep it. At first to most people it will seem near impossible to do this, but so did walking and talking once upon a time. Practice it. I believe and put into practice myself that when things go wrong, things that i cannot control, such as other peoples actions, i tell myself... "What is, is!" In other words, I accept the situation, acknowledge that if I change my emotion to something negative nothing will change the situation, and therefore then stop, breathe, and let my inner smile stay strong. Sometimes its harder than other times to do it, lots of things can cause this, lack of sleep, illness, etc etc, but done often, it starts to become a habit, and once embedded into your subconcious, WOW, the change it makes to you.
