Although the composition is usually referred to as "Albinoni's Adagio" or "Adagio in G minor by Albinoni, arranged by Remo Giazotto," the attribution is inverted. It has been known that Giazotto discovered Albinoni's manuscript fragment from a slow second movement of an "Albinoni Trio Sonata." According to Giazotto's account, he obtained the document shortly after the end of World War II from the Saxon State Library in Dresden. And then he constructed the balance of the complete single-movement work around this fragmentary theme, copyrighted it, and published it in 1958. But it has been argued that this work is entirely Giazotto's. Giazotto never produced the manuscript fragment. Also since his death in 1998, no record of its ever having been among the collection of the Saxon State Library has been found. Based on this evidence, many have concluded that the piece is entirely Giazotto's own composition. Теги: Giazotto Albinoni Adagio

Adagio in G Minor - attributed to Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751), but in fact reconstructed (from very little of Albinoni's original music) by Remo Giazotto (1910-98). Considering its popularity, I'm surprised not to have seen more organ arrangements on here, as it fits the instrument beautifully - even without the strings. Recorded on 23 July 2008 at St. John's Parish Church, Ainsdale, Southport. Теги: Adagio Albinoni Giazotto organ

The Odeum Guitar Duo (Robert Wetzel & Fred Benedetti) performs the famous Adagio attributed to Tomaso Albinoni in concert on a live television broadcast on April 8, 2001 in San Diego, California. This well known Adagio was really composed by Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto (1910-1998) in 1945. His composition was based on fragments of a melody and bass line by Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) that Giazotto supposedly discovered in the Dresden State Library shortly after the Second World War. This arrangement of the Adagio for two guitars is by Fred Benedetti. Guitars constructed by Miguel Rodriguez of Cordoba, Spain for Robert Wetzel in 1976 (left) and for Fred Benedetti by Simon Marty of Sydney, Australia in 2000 (right). This song has been done countless times by countless people. I wanted to arrange it for a brass choir. Right now it has 12 parts: 1 Bb trumpet, 1 Flugelhorn, 2 piccolo trumpets, 1 Eb trumpet, 3 french horns, 2 trombones, 2 tubas. I imagine it can be played by a choir of 20+ with the appropriate doubling of parts. See: unicornscan.org for a high quality sound file. Find me on skype if you want the score/parts: thegeneral_robertelee Теги: remo giazotto albinoni adagio minor brass choir midi
