This piece is in the 15th series AMEB Grade 4 piano exam book. Originally I was planned to play this piece in my 4th grade piano exam but now I had gave up using this piece because .... I really can't make myself to like this piece ..... and in fact I quite dislike it. So this was the last time I play this piece .... :(

All three songs of Three Children's Scenes for soprano and piano, Op. 18 (1927). (Originally composed for soprano and piano; orchestration by Edison Denisov.) Natalia Zagorinskaya, soprano From the out-of-print CD "Mosolov: String Quartet No. 2, Violin Concerto, Other Works" on Triton (DMCC-26006) with the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble. Alexander Mosolov (1900-1973) was a part of the Soviet Avant-Garde prominent in the 1920s. He was oppressed by the RAPM (Russian Association of Proletarian Musicians) for writing inaccessible and highly pessimistic music; ie, not conforming to Soviet Realism. By 1929 his compositions were banned and in 1936 he moved to Central Asia to collect folk music. From then until his death, Mosolov abandoned his earlier compositional style and wrote tame often folk-inspired works.

This is another of my favourite songs from my old piano book. I learnt it waaaay back when i was in about grade 4, so its pretty simple, but i think its a great song anyway.
