This Spyderco Manix 2 Sprint run in blue G10 is another Spyderco homerun. In some ways this surprised me because from some pictures I may have passed on the design (at least the regular Manix 2). But the Manix has received a lot of attention from Spyderco knife-designer Eric Glesser and it shows, especially on this limited Sprint run blade shown. Pretty much all of its features are impressive to me on this Manix 2 which will allow it to excel in the EDC, tactical, or even just collectible knife roles. While the regular 2010 Manix 2 offers good value with its 154CM steel, its 5.1 oz carry weight and sabre grind are not super attractive to me. But this Manix iteration is a different animal: S30V steel in a FFG (full flat ground) blade, PERFECT jimping (a first really), incredible strong cage ball lock mechanism, PERFECT and aggressive milling of the the stainless steel liners (making the light 4.2 ounce carry weight a reality), high polish low profile tip-up-carry clip, excellent ergonomics throughout, great balance, an ultra-sharp edge, fast deployment speed, and an ultra tight lockup. The gorgeous blue G10 handles are perfectly textured as well and play nicely with the polished fittings. It is a good looking blade. Some may find the stiffer ball lock disengagement a bit problematic with one hand; I do. But for its strength and smoothness I like it and I have no problems with the polymer lock button. The Spyderco Manix 2 is an awesome heavy duty every day carry/tactical/camping/do-it-all folder. This knife can hold it's own in a number of environments. It features 154cm blade steel, g-10 handles, a ball-bearing lock, very aggressive jimping, an oversized lanyard hole, ambidextrous tip-up carry and a huge amount of awesomeness.

I was sold on the Spyderco Manix 2 when I first laid eyes on it. The great looks, excellent ergonomics, and fun locking mechanism all make this a very enjoyable knife to handle and carry. It's made with an outstanding steel, 154cm, and agressive G10 handle scales for great retention in pocket or hand, with good edge retention and durability. Spyderco markets this knife as a hard use folder, so you should feel very confident carrying this into the outdoors, and putting it under all kinds of stress, right? Although I didn't perform any hard-use tests myself, my confidence in this knife has dropped somewhat after watching this video by jankerson1: www.youtube.com I hope future versions of this knife will have the durability this one is meant to have, but until then, I'm happy to make this a simple "fondling" blade - one that I'll enjoy just for the coolness of it.

Don't try and repeat my tests on the Manix 2 as it will damage the knife. News back from Spyderco states that over strikes will damage the lock. They are working on improving the lock to withstand the shock of the over strike.
