The high mountain valleys Re-echo the battle's tumultuous roar. The onslaught's ferocious! Again the dense hordes Along the ravine for the twelfth time are crawling Where warm blood is flowing and bodies are sprawling. A hail of fresh bullets and tree trunks and boulders; Spattered with blood, our battalions boldly Retaliate, every man in his own way Striving to be in the front of the fray, Each, like a hero, death bravely defying, Determined to leave one more enemy dying. A last effort's needed: the moment is grave. And then does Stoletov, our general brave, Roar words of great courage: "Young volunteer fighters, Now crown Bulgaria with laurels of triumph! The Tsar has entrusted the pass, the whole war, Himself even, unto these muscles, of yours!" Thus heartened, our proud and heroic battalions Courageously meet the next thrust of the rallying Enemy hordes! They're all to a man ready gladly to die On the ridge which the whole of the world can descry, To die here like heroes triumphant, victorious . "The whole of Bulgaria watches, supports us!" And today, every time there's a storm in the mountain, The summit recall this grim day and, recounting The story, its echoing glory relays From valley to valley, from age unto age!

5 веков славянские народы Балканского полуострова находились под игом османских турок. В 1877 году Россия объявляет войну Турции. Под управлением профессиональных генералов в грозных природных критериях российские, а также болгарские бойцы одерживают череду больших побед. Разбив неприятеля под Плевной, русско-болгарская армия движется на Стамбул. И хотя Российскую Империю под нажимом западных стран, боящихся её усиления, вынуждают прекратить войну, благородная цель достигнута — болгарские, братские народы освободились от турецкого ига. Русы - вперёд!

A view of the area around the Shipka Monument, which includes Shipka Pass and the mountains around. The Shipka Memorial is on Stoletov Peak near the pass, reached by a flight of steps or a short road. It is a memorial to those who died for the Liberation of Bulgaria during the Battles of Shipka Pass in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. It was opened with a ceremony in 1934 and designed by architect Atanas Donkov and sculptor Aleksandar Andreev. Another view of the memorial The monument is a 31.5-metre (98-foot) high stone tower in the form of a truncated pyramid. A giant bronze lion, 8 m (26 feet) long and 4 m (13 feet) high, stands above the entrance to the tower, and a figure of a woman represents the victory over the Ottoman forces. A marble sarcophagus housing some of the remains of the Russian and Bulgarian casualties is located on the first floor. There are four other floors where one can find replica of Bulgarian military flags and other relics, and the top of the tower reveals a panorama of Shipka Peak and the surrounding area.
