    Лебединое озеро/Swan Lake Movies

Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Wiener Staatsopernballett with Wiener Symphoniker conducted by John Lanchbery. Filmed in Vienna, Staatsoper, October 15, 1966 Peter Ilyich TCHAIKOVSKY (1840 - 1893) Swan Lake, ballet in four acts, Op 20 (1876) "Perhaps the most popular ballet video ever released, this version of Tchiakovsky's beloved work stars one of the most famous classical dance partnerships of all time: Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn. Nureyev choreographed this production for the Vienna State Opera" When someone congratulated Tchaikovsky on the success of his Nutcracker ballet, he reportedly replied angrily, "I gave them a masterpiece in Swan Lake, but all they want from me is fluff." In 1876, the year of the Ring's Bayreuth premier, Tchaikovsky had Wagner on his mind, and he wrote his own story of Siegfried but in the familiar Russian fairy tale mould of the young man bewitched on his wedding night. Although it consists of separate dance movements, the work begins in B minor, ends in B Major, and all the themes are linked together to produce a Dance Symphony in a sense similar to Wagner's Vocal Symphonies. It was probably the political context which caused the astonishing count of 89 curtain calls at the opening night of this 1964 Vienna production, Nureyev's first public appearance after his defection. But it must be admitted that when Nureyev and/or Fonteyn are on the stage, nothing else is noticeable, an experience unlike any other ballet video I've ever seen ...

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake - Лебединое Озеро Music

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky[a 1] (Russian: About this sound Пётр Ильич Чайковский (help·info), tr. Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij, IPA [ˈpʲɵtr ɪlʲˈjitɕ tɕɪjˈkofskʲɪj]; May 7, 1840 [OS April 25] November 6, 1893 [OS October 25]),[a 2] often called Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky (pronounced /ˈpiːtər ˈɪlɨtʃ tʃaɪˈkɒvski/) in English, was a Russian composer of the Romantic era. As his style developed, Tchaikovsky wrote music across a range of genres, including symphony, opera, ballet, instrumental, chamber and song. He wrote some of the most popular concert and theatrical music in the current classical repertoire, including the ballets Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, the 1812 Overture, his First Piano Concerto, his last three numbered symphonies, and the opera Eugene Onegin.

TCHAIKOVSKY: Swan Lake - Лебединое Озеро Music

Passing Through: www.youtube.com - Friends, Please visit my Poet friend "Passing Through's" YouTube channel: www.youtube.com , and support him - Thanks :) Valse (Corps de Ballet) Swan Lake (Russian: Лебединое Озеро, Lebedinoye Ozero, Swan Lake) is a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky presented in either four Acts, four Scenes (primarily outside Russia and Eastern Europe) or three Acts, four Scenes (primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe), based on a libretto by Vladimir Begichev and (possibly) Vasily Geltser, fashioned from an ancient German legend, which tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. It was originally choreographed by Julius Reisinger to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (opus 20). First presented as The Lake of the Swans by the Ballet of the Moscow Imperial Bolshoi Theatre on February 20/March 4, 1877 (Julian/Gregorian calendar dates) in Moscow, Russia. Although the ballet is presented in many different versions, most ballet companies base their stagings both choreographically and musically on the revival by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, staged for the Imperial Ballet, first presented January 15, 1895 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. For this revival, Tchaikovsky's score was revised by the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatre's kapellmeister Riccardo Drigo. (We appreciate Wikipaedia's contributions in the descriptions here)
