When James Brown sang 'It's A Man's Man's Man's World,' he was not talking about cheerleading, but that didn't stop two would-be pioneers from attempting to break the sport's gender barrier. Among hundreds of women vying for spots on the cheerleading squads of two professional football teams are two men, hell-bent on picking up pom poms for the teams next season. The auditions are open to all races, body types - and sexes - with only the most talented dancers making the cut. In Texas, Dixon Hernandez was hoping to earn a spot among the Houston Texans' cheerleaders. Mr Hernandez told ABC 13: 'I'm here to have fun, and for the experience and, you know, just to see what it's all about. Who wouldn't want to be a Texans Cheerleader?' Both men were given routines to learn and the opportunity to strut their stuff for officials and judges both alone and with other hopefuls.
