What 50033836 said is very true, although that particular lyric I understood personally as being about friends shouldering the weight for each other, like not making each other pay, being their for each other. Just my personal reading, I don't know Guy's intentions

It's a song that ...

It's a song that Guy Garvey wrote about a childhood friend of his who died of a disease (not sure if it was cancer, can't rememeber) not too long before they started producing Seldom Seen Kid. The shoulder charge is exactly that. It's referring to play-fighting. =) The main lyrics of the song "Love you, mate." was how Guy and his friend would say goodbye to one another.
